What Were They Thinking?
Well, sometimes people do things that remind me of the Christine Lavin song “What Was I Thinking” – only I project it onto others. What Were They Thinking?
Take, for instance, the folks outlined in this article – http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20071221/wr_nm/web_facebook_parodies_life_dc
Do the 25,000 or so people on the services not realize that despite the satire, and the “all in good fun” supposedness, that there is a straight up danger due to the fact that long after the “silliness” is over – these comments will be found online? Not to mention potential libel or slander implications – with intent being all that needs to be proven.
I know people make mistakes, but why compound them? Why make those mistakes and lapses of good judgement something people get to see ongoingly? Remember, folks, if it is indexed online, it will be there until the cows come home.
From college students down to pre-pubescent teens, this needs to be taught, preached and told from the pulpits – reckless, thoughtless posts can be as deadly to a persons online e-impression, as unprotected sex is to your life. You don’t know what will happen when you do either…but why take the chance? Posting out of control doesn’t even feel good…
